Ubuntu 12.04 can't connect to the internet

It seems this is a common problem with an easy fix.

sudo apt-get remove --purge resolvconf
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

Hi, thanks for the above, but it did not work. I tried to ping google (8.8.8.8) but the Server could not reach it. Any Idea?
